Help Save the Whales with Neo Tokyo Ethical Fashion Shopping
We’re privileged to share our planet with magnificent majestic animals such as the whale. Rather than seeking to dominate such creatures, we must learn to admire their awe-inspiring might and grace.
A realistic and practical way to help save the whale is to focus on ethical shopping.
A great example is Neo Tokyo’s Kujira market bag. The name Kujira means “whale” in Japanese. The bag is made from 100% man-made materials, including gunmetal canvas. It has a clean, delicate whale design printed cotton lining.
As with all our products, a share of Kujira’s sale proceeds go towards the magnificent work of WSPA, including its campaign for whales.
Save the Whales Campaign
In 1986, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) enacted a moratorium on commercial whaling. Since then, Iceland, Norway and Japan have continued to slaughter whales under the guise of scientific research.
This means that thousands of whales are killed every year in cruel and unnecessary hunts that cause intense pain and distress.
WSPA works to stop all commercial and scientific whaling by:
- Using diplomacy and public support to raise whale welfare up the agenda of the International Whaling Commission’s annual meeting.
- Supporting and encouraging member societies in both pro- and anti-whaling countries in their campaigns against whaling on welfare grounds.
- Producing reports to back up its welfare claims and perspective with good science.
- Leading the Whalewatch network – a group of NGOs united by an opposition to whaling on welfare grounds.
How can you help us save the whales?
- Through ethical fashion shopping with Neo Tokyo. When you buy WSPA merchandise, we pay the total purchase price to WSPA, less the cost of manufacture. For all other products, at least 20% of the purchase price goes to WSPA.
- By donations to WSPA.
